Clarity - An Education Specialist

Recent visits to a number of schools would appear to have highlighted a deficiency in the understanding of the education market and the requirements for professionally installed sound, theatrical lighting and audio-visual systems, designed specifically for education.

It appears that in some cases in a number of schools , considerable amounts of money are being spent with companies who appear to misunderstand the requirements for education. This means those companies subsequently end up supplying the wrong equipment or installing products incorrectly and often very badly.

This can lead to the equipment not being used at all, or as often as it should be because either the teachers are afraid to use it or they don’t know how to use it.

Managing Director for Clarity, Stuart Graham comments ‘If I could deliver a message to any decision makers in schools that are looking to spend money on sound equipment for their school hall, or a lighting system for the drama studio, or indeed any equipment, it is make sure the company chosen to deliver the project understands the requirements, and in particular  understands the requirements for education’

‘I have seen so many systems supplied and installed into education that are at the wrong ends of the spectrum, being either far too complex and therefore too difficult to use or the system is at the other end of the specification spectrum and is just inadequate for use'

‘In either scenario they represent terrible investments for the school or college because they are unusable by the teachers or the children’.

Clarity is an education specialist which means that systems supplied by Clarity are designed with education at the forefront of the design. Knowing that systems installed in schools are used by teachers and pupils they must be fully functional and reliable, but they must also be safely installed, easy to set-up, very simple to operate and must be designed for every day use.

‘Nothing upsets me more’, continued Graham, ‘than to visit a school and find money spent on equipment left sitting in a cupboard because no-one knows how to use it’.

‘We always ensure that in the first instance the right equipment is specified and upon completion of every project we arrange at least a half-day training session with the most-likely users of the system, to ensure the equipment can be used every day. We also provide full telephone and e-mail support on an on-going basis for every one of our projects’
